  • For any insured, if there is any adverse history, as per the proposal form, then health reports are required irrespective of age & travel duration.

1.Accidental Death:

  • Pays the family of the insured compensation in the case of loss of life in an accident.

2.Permanent Disablement:

  •  Hdfc Ergo Pays compensation if the insured is permanently disabled in an accident.

3.Emergency Medical Expenses:

  • Reimburses the insured for medical expenses incurred for an accident or an unexpected sickness.
  1. Medical Evacuation: Pay the actual costs or the total sum insured, stated in the schedule, whichever is lesser, for repatriating insured back to the country of residence.
  2. Body Repatriation: Pay the actual costs or the total sum insured stated in the schedule, whichever is lesser, for repatriating insured corpse to the country of residence.

4.Emergency Dental Treatment:

  • Reimburses the insured for emergency dental expenses incurred for an injury or acute pain.

5.Loss of Passport: 

  • In the event that the passport belonging to the insured is lost, the insured is reimbursed the actual expenses incurred in obtaining a duplicate or fresh passport.

6.Loss of Checked Baggage:

  • If baggage, personal documents or personal effects are checked onto a common carrier, the insured is reimbursed the cost of replacement for any damaged or lost articles.

7.Delay of Checked Baggage:

  • Provides an amount for emergency purchases on account of delay in baggage.

8.Personal Liability: 

  • Pays a benefit for damages that an insured person is legally liable for as the result of a lawsuit for property damage being brought against the insured person. Also pays a benefit for medical expenses that an insured person is legally liable for as the result of a law suit for an accident caused by the insured person resulting in bodily injury to another person.

9.Bail Bond:

  • Hdfc Ergo Pays the bail amount for the insured on arrest or detention by police for a bail-able offence in the territory of travel.

10.Study Interruption: 

  •  Hdfc Ergo General Insurance company Pays compensation in the event of interruption of study whilst abroad according to the Hdfc ergo Student Suraksha-Student Overseas policy.

11.Sponsor Protection:

  • Pays tuition fees to the insured in the event of accidental death of insured’s sponsor.

12.Compassionate Visit:

  • Pays amount incurred to the insured in the event of compassionate Visit by one immediate family member.

13.Psychological Coverage: 

  •  Pays for treatment of mental and nervous disorders, including alcoholism and drug dependency.

Hdfc Ergo Student Suraksha Travel Insurance policy Claim Procedure:

  • If you are abroad, please contact +800 08250825 (International Toll Free). Incase you are dialling from India, please contact 01204507250 (Chargeable)
  • Hdfc Ergo Claims Service Representative will guide you on the claim procedures and documents required
  • A claim form will be forwarded to you by mail, email or fax
  • Complete the claim form relevant to the nature of loss as indicated below.
  • Kindly mail us scanned images of your claim documents on processing@hdfcergo.com , with cc to travelclaims@hdfcergo.com or fax us on +91-120-6691600 within 30 days from date of loss.

Accidental Death
  • Attached Claim form (Page 1,2, Section A, Section C ) duly filled & signed by the treating doctor.(Mandatory Document)
  • Consultation Note OR Emergency Room’s doctor medical report OR Relevant Treatment Papers OR Discharge Summary. (Mandatory Document)
  • Copy of the passport showing the date of entry journey from India.
  • All relevant Original Invoices for the expenses incurred.
  • Receipt OR Any other document suggestive of payment made to the hospital.
  • Postmortem Report or Coroner’s Report
  • Death Certificate.
  • Final police inspection report.
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
Emergency Medical Expenses

  • Copy of the old passport of the employee, if available. (In case of loss of passport).
  • For claims involving jewelry, submit original or certified copies of valuation certificates issued prior to the commencement of the Period of Insurance.
  • Original embassy receipts OR Passport office Receipts for the replacement of Passport. (In case of loss of passport)
  • Emergency travel certificate. (In case of loss of passport)
  • Copy of the new passport. (In case of loss of passport)
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
  • Please Note: Personal Documents means an Insured Person’s identity card (if applicable), ration card, voter identity card, passport, driving licence and car licence.
Checked Baggage Loss (Including Baggage Damage)  

  • Attached Claim Form (Page 1,2,3 with Section D) duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Original Property Irregularity Report (PIR) from airlines.
  • Claim form submitted to airlines, mentioning the details items lost/damaged, with their respective cost. (Mandatory)
  • Baggage Loss/Damage Report OR letter from airlines OR any other document from airlines confirming the loss of items.
  • Copies of Boarding Pass, Ticket and Baggage tags.
  • Copy of Passport showing the date of entry and exit related to journey (to & fro) from India.
  • Details of Compensation received from Airlines If Any.
  • Original Bills/Receipts for the items lost.
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
Baggage Delay  

  • Claim Form (Page 1,2,3 with Section F – duly completed and signed by the Insured.
  • Original Property Irregularity Report (PIR) mentioning the date and time of loss.
  • Letter from airlines mentioning the duration for which baggage delay has taken Place or any other document suggestive of proof of period for which baggage delay has taken place. (Mandatory)
  • Copies of Boarding Pass, Ticket and Baggage tags.
  • Copy of Passport showing the date of entry and exit related to journey (to & fro) from India.
  • Details of compensation received from airlines If any.
  • Original Bills/Receipts/Invoices for the necessary emergency purchases of toiletries, medication and clothing that he/she needed to buy during the period of baggage delay.(Mandatory)
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
  • Please Note: Claim payment can be made only against the receipts for expenses directly resulting from baggage delay.
Trip Cancellation
  • Attached Claim form (Page 1,2,3 with Section H is mandatory) duly completed and signed by the claimant
  • Letter from insured mentioning the reason of trip cancellation with related proof
  • Proof of travel and accomodation expenses made in advance for the trip
  • Details of refundable amount from the airlines for tavel tickets
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
Trip Interruption
  • Attached Claim form (Page 1,2,3 with Section H is mandatory) duly completed and signed by the claimant
  • Letter from insured mentioning the reason of trip cancellation with related proof
  • Proof of travel and accomodation expenses made in advance for the trip
  • Details of refundable amount from the airlines, hotel booked in advance
  • Copy of cancelled cheque

 

Loss of Cash
  • Attached Claim form (Page 1,2,3 ) duly completed and signed by the claimant
  • Original/Photo Copy of FIR Report to be obtained from the relevant police authority in the event of loss or theft. This is a written proof confirming that the loss has occurred due to theft.
  • Documentation of Cash withdrawal/Travelers cheques, occurring within seventy-two (72) hours of the commencement of an Insured Journey that supports the amount of the claim.
  • Details of refundable amount from the airlines for tavel tickets
  • Copy of the passport showing the date of entry and exit related to journey (to & fro) from India.
  • Copy of cancelled cheque.
Flight Delay
  • Attached Claim form (Page 1,2,3 with Section H is mandatory) duly completed and signed by the claimant
  • Invoices related to List of essential purchases made, such as meals, refreshments or other related expenses directly resulting from the flight delay. (mandatory)
  • Confirmation letter from the airlines clearly stating the duration and the reason for flight delay (Mandatory)
  • Copies of Boarding Pass, Ticket.
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
  • Please Note: Claim payment can be made only against the receipts for expenses directly resulting from flight delay.

  • Occasioned by Civil War or Foreign War.
  • Terrorism
  • Any pathological fracture.
  • For cures of any kind and all stay in long term
  • For investigations, operations or treatment of a purely cosmetic nature; or for obesity.
  • Treatment of Nervous and Mental Problems
  • Participating in hazardous sports like parachuting, hang gliding, bungee jumping etc.
  • Nuclear Energy risks.

1.Hdfc Ergo Student Suraksha Travel Insurance Policy Cancillation?

A.The policy may be cancelled via request on Email/Fax, The intimation of policy cancellation has to reach us latest upto 14 days from the inception date of the policy. If the policy has already incepted, a copy of all 40 pages of the passport needs to be submitted as a proof that the journey has not been undertaken. Cancellation charges of Rs. 250/- shall be applicable and the balance shall be refunded.

2.Whom to contact in case of claim on the policy?

A.In the event of a covered emergency and to register claims, call HDFC ERGO at 24 hour Help Center and quote Policy Holders’ Name, Policy Number, Insurance Company, Passport Number when seeking assistance within 24 Hours.

3.Where can one avail the claim forms?

A.On registration of a claim, claim form will be forwarded to by mail, email or fax along with the intimation for the various documents required. The forms are also available on the website.

5.How do i extend my policy?

A.Please send a request mail to Care@hdfcergo.com for extension of policy along with health declaration attached to it. You will receive a response from us with the detailed procedure and the additional premium amount.
6.For howw many days can the policy be extended?
A.The total policy period including extension should not exceed 2 years.
7.Can the sum insured be increased?
A.The Sum Insured cannot be increased.
8.What does deductable mean?
A.Deductible means the amount of a claim that has to be borne by the insured.
9.Will the claim be settled on my return to india?
